About the event
30 YEARS OF HIP-HOP: DIGGIN IN THE CRATES. A COLLECTOR’S CIPHER mini pop-up installation features original vinyl records, autographed memorabilia, and promotional items from legendary MCs, album-inspired artwork, limited-edition sneakers, designer toys, and rare comic books with covers that pay tribute to hip-hop icons. Installation also includes photographs and flyers that shed light on Syracuse’s often-overlooked but vibrant contributions to hip-hop history.
From Wu-Tang Clan’s killer bees to the lyrical liberation of Native Tongue, the no-holds-barred fire of Public Enemy, and the charisma of LL Cool J, this exhibition is a tribute to underground gems like Rawkus Records, tracing the evolution of hip-hop through three decades of sound, vision, and expression.
